I found an article on the importance of using various types of scripting languages. http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2SE/Desktop/scripting/ It is a good thing to learn as many as you can of course because it gives a certain upper hand in coding when trying to accomplish a task. There are tons of different languages and they are always coming out with new and improved ones, but it is definately a good thing to sink your teeth in as many as you can because they really do help you out with a lot of things. Scripting languages can automatically perform many type conversions for you to help things along. You can alos with the help of scripting languages create new variables without predetermining the variable type, and you can reuse variables to store values of different types. Knowing different types of scripting languages really helps the developer in choosing from multiple platforms to perform the same task, just in multiple ways. It’s like it said in the article, that you can have a claculator with some core operations, but you can provide programmable function keys that the user can customize.

I personally do not know very much at all really, yet i really do want to learn as much as i can. You see when i sit in Programming Logic class which is the scripting class that i am currently in, it all makes perfect sense and i can answer the questions in confidence when the teacher is up front lecturing. Yet as soon as i am set off on my own and turn to face the computer, i lose everything. It is like i am starting as square one. I take as good as notes as i possibly can and i look over them when i try to code on my own. But there is something that is missing. Im still not sure what it is, but i am very aware that is very important to dive into all the disfferent types of scripting languages and learn as many as i can to help benefit me in the future, well and now even. I feel as though i cant fully wrap my head around certain concepts to where they come to me like answers to solving a problem, because there is still a problem in understanding them. But i am going to try my best and this article didnt necessarily teach me anything new, but it just let me know that everyone goes through it, and there are many tthings learn. I might be stronger in certain languages than others, and i can use them to perform my coding tasks.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Advanced_Interactive_Media_Class/Interactive_Media_Versus_Other_Kinds_Of_Media I found an interesting little article on Wikipedia about Interactive Media. I had to read of course because in the title it had my major! “People will always crave media that will allow them to experience an environment that is more like the world as God made it. In other words, the more media becomes like the “real” world, the more it will be accepted and embraced by human beings.” Those two sentences in the article really made me think as to where our technology is heading. Interactive Media is becoming bigger and bigger, and therefore the demand for people who know how to do it is becoming bigger. I remember when IMD wasn’t even a department at AI and now i have transfered from film, into IMD because it interested me more, and i think the one of the reaons that it interested me more was because of how fast it truly is growing. A lot of people see Interactive Media as something they can really fall into. You can really immerse yourself in the entire feel of what it is. After all, it is “interactive” so it allows the user to feel as though they are controlling some aspect of it, and therefore affecting the outcome, and thus creating it to be customized. Later in the article it talks about the health issues of what this field can do, seeing you dont necessarily get any excercise looking at the computer, but i see that in the future, that might change, and i am interested to see how that comes into play. Like already in the article they mentioned the Nintendo Wii, and how it actually increases physical activity. So i really do believe that this field of Interactive Media is going to become something even bigger than it is now, and i am trying my best to learn all i can and keep myself on board!
